Summary of Changes from Previous Version

On 19 October 2023 amendments were made to the Leave and Public Holidays procedure to reflect the new Deakin University 2023 Enterprise Agreement including to: -include new leave days (eg wellbeing, AFL Grand Final Eve); allow staff to substitute Australia Day for another day in January; deleting references requiring staff to work on designated public holidays to be eligible to take the Christmas - New Year shut down period without impacting leave entitlements; providing Deakin is closed between Christmas and New Year without impacting leave entitlements; extending period during which staff can commence paid primary carer leave from 3 to 12 months; extending period that staff can commence paid partner leave from 10 to 20 days and adding that leave can commence on week prior to the expected date of birth; extending compassionate leave from 3 to 5 days; clarifying that casual and professional staff are eligible for family and domestic violence leave; providing 10 days of paid Family and Domestic Violence leave, which was previously categorised as special leave, and specifically providing for access to special leave in addition to family and domestic violence leave; renaming ceremonial leave to cultural leave and extending cultural leave from 5 to 10 days; providing up to 15 days repatriation leave; extending gender affirmation leave from 10 to 30 days
