Summary of Changes from Previous Version

The Biosafety and Biosecurity Procedure is a new procedure to formalise Deakin’s commitment to comply with the Gene Technology Act 2000 (Cth), Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (Vic), Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth), Livestock Disease Control Act 1994 (Vic), Plant Biosecurity Act 2010 (Vic) and National Health Security Act
2007 (Cth) which regulate the safe handling and containment of hazardous biological materials. The procedure outlines the responsibilities of all University staff and students to comply with the relevant provisions of this legislation.
