Summary of Changes from Previous Version

On 4 June 2020 the Child Safety Policy suite was amended to:
• Clarify Working with Children’s Check requirements for new staff
• Clarify the role of the Child Safe Advisor
• Clarification of working around mandatory Reporters (Sections 182(1)(a)-(e), 184 and 162(c)-(d) of the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic.))
• Clarification around reporting process in line with the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 and Children Youth and Families Act 2005
• Include specific wording about the Universities role “to prevent child abuse”, describing the range of measures in place and inclusion of statement “All children who disclose child abuse or that they are feeling unsafe will be heard, taken seriously and treated with sensitivity and compassion by the University.”
• set out the requirement for all staff to complete a Compliance Child Safety Module.
