Summary of Changes from Previous Version

On 15 November 2018 the Recruitment of Staff procedure was updated to reflect the new Talent Acquisition (TA) function and process which come into effect on 19 November 2018. The amendments to the Procedure articulate the high level of support which will be provided to Hiring Managers by the new TA team in the Human Resources Division. The updated Procedure details Deakin’s new approach to recruitment, reflecting a much more flexible and tailored approach to supporting Academic and Professional Hiring Managers sourcing their ideal candidates. Significant changes to the Procedure include:

• the use of the new recruitment platform, DeakinRecruit and the way in which a Hiring Manager can commence the recruitment process

• options for Hiring Managers to request direct appointments or propose an expression of interest process via DeakinRecruit

• the critical “job brief” stage and the importance of Hiring Managers engaging with their TA Partner. The job brief drives a recruitment service from the TA team that is tailored to the specific requirements of the Hiring Manager and the role

• sourcing the candidate pool and the support provided to Hiring Managers by the TA team and the enhanced flexibility in relation to shortlisting, interviewing and selection

• reference checking and making the offer via DeakinRecruit

• new onboarding and induction information and experiences for Hiring Managers and new starters.

On the 22 November 2018 and administrative amendment to the Procedure was made to clarify in clause 19 that the position must be vacant or the current incumbent is departing.
