Summary of Changes from Previous Version

This Policy was established on the date of approval recorded in its context section. On 1 February 2016 policies and procedures were moved to the University's new Policy Management System, The Policy Library. For all intents and purposes the current version of this document is reflective of that published in the Guide prior to the new system launch. The document has been subjected to reformatting, including the application of a new numbering system and section headings.


Clause 2 setting out Schedule A: Commercial Activity or Establishing an Entity Proposal Checklist was deleted  on 1 October 2018 as it was incorrectly listed as a schedule to the policy when it is the Schedule to the Commercial Activities and Entities procedure.


On 21 July 2016 the CFO approved the amendment of the Policy replacing references to 'Associated Entity' with 'Affiliated Entity'. Affected clauses: 5,8, 16d, 16e, and 18c.



On 10 November 2016, an administrative amendment was approved comprising the updating of the Charter for Boards of Deakin University Controlled Entities and the Guide to Deakin University Appointed Directors to Boards of Commercial Entities.
